Thurs Nov 13th : Gods Of Time Square - introduced by the director, Richard Sandler and the editor, Dan Brown
Gods of Times Square
Directed by Richard Sandler
Runtime: 109 minutes
Rating: Not Rated
Year: 1999
Gods of Times Square is a raw, street-level documentary capturing the shifting spiritual and cultural landscape of New York City in the 1990s. Directed by street photographer and filmmaker Richard Sandler, the film immerses viewers in the chaotic, often confrontational world of Times Square pre-gentrification—where religious zealots, preachers, prophets, and passersby collide in a blur of belief, ideology, and urban noise.
Shot over six years with a handheld camera and a sharp eye for contradiction, Gods of Times Square is not just a portrait of faith on the street—it’s a record of a vanishing city, filled with unfiltered voices and uncensored passion. Gritty, intimate, and thought-provoking, the film invites reflection on truth, transformation, and the human search for meaning in the most public of spaces.

Kenneth Anger’s Lucifer Rising : The Occult Saga of a Cursed Film - Screening & Presentation by Brian Butler
Co-presented by The Joshua Tree Cultural Center and the Kenneth Anger Estate
Few films carry the mystique, controversy, and supernatural aura of Lucifer Rising. Hailed as an occult masterpiece, its journey from conception to completion was anything but ordinary. Marked by betrayal, imprisonment, stolen footage, and an ever-shifting cast — including Mick Jagger, Marianne Faithfull, Jimmy Page, and Bobby Beausoleil of the Manson family — its production unfolded like a ritual in itself, steeped in magick, myth, and chaos.
Following the sold-out presentation of Lucifer Rising: Occult Saga of a Cursed Film at The Philosophical Research Society in Los Angeles this year, Brian Butler — artist, occultist, and official representative of the Kenneth Anger Estate — now brings this exclusive deep dive to the desert. As Kenneth Anger’s longtime manager and collaborator, Butler worked closely with Anger for over twenty years — traveling with him, producing films, and preserving hidden fragments of his legacy. Part screening, part ritual transmission, this presentation features rare archival materials, filmed interviews, and firsthand accounts that illuminate the film’s tumultuous yet legendary creation.
The evening culminates in a rare screening of Lucifer Rising, giving audiences a chance to step inside its timeless spell as it was meant to be seen.

Control ( 2007) Directed by Anton Corbijn, introduced by Orian Williams & special guests ,
Directed by: Anton Corbijn
Director of Photography: Martin Ruhe
Producers: Anton Corbijn, Todd Eckert, Orian Williams
Runtime: 122 minutes
Rating: R
Control is the haunting, black-and-white debut feature by Anton Corbijn, chronicling the brief and brilliant life of Ian Curtis, the enigmatic frontman of Joy Division. Based on Deborah Curtis’s memoir Touching from a Distance, the film captures the emotional turbulence, creative intensity, and tragic arc of a reluctant icon, rendered with stark realism and poetic intimacy by cinematographer Martin Ruhe.
The film will be introduced by one of its key producers, Orian Williams, a visionary with deep roots in music culture. From his early days working in a Texas record store to producing acclaimed films like Shadow of the Vampire, Williams has championed projects at the intersection of music and cinema. He was instrumental in bringing Control to life—from its earliest stages to convincing Corbijn to direct—shaping it into the Cannes- and BAFTA-winning film it became. His passion for storytelling, sound, and visual form helped turn Control into a lasting meditation on art, identity, and loss.

Friday, December 5th : “B-Sides” – Orian Williams
B-Sides is a visual mixtape from film producer and curator Orian Williams, known for his deep-rooted connection to music, cinema, and counterculture. Best known for producing Control and Shadow of the Vampire, Williams now turns his lens toward the personal and the poetic. In B-Sides, he shares a curated collection of photographs, film stills, and found ephemera—moments often overlooked, like the quiet resonance of a song’s flip side.
This show invites viewers into a world shaped by vinyl grooves, backstage glances, and the atmospheres that exist between takes. Much like his film work, B-Sides captures the raw edges and emotional undercurrents that live just beyond the spotlight. It’s a meditation on memory, mood, and the beauty of what doesn’t always make the A-side.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a book pop-up by Hat & Beard Press, celebrating the release of B-Sides, a 136-page hardcover photo book published by the acclaimed Los Angeles–based art imprint. This limited-edition volume brings Williams’s cinematic eye and musical sensibility to the printed page—offering viewers and readers alike a meditation on memory, shadow, and the beauty found in what doesn’t always make the A-side.
